Joel Cranshaw

CEO & General Counsel

Joel is the founder of Clearpoint Counsel and a general counsel with 20 years experience working with organisations in Australia, the United Kingdom and around the globe. He became interested in looking at alternatives to the traditional model of providing legal services in 2003 whilst working for a boutique firm in Melbourne. In 2005 he launched Clearpoint in the UK, a management consultancy that acted as General Counsel and CFO with funded start-ups and SMEs. On his return to Melbourne in 2012, he successfully applied this model for Australian companies forming Clearpoint Counsel. Joel is the founder of the Better Business Club and serves on the boards of several not for profit groups and social enterprises.

Helen Allard

Legal Counsel (IP/ IT Law, Employment Law & Brand Protection specialist)

Helen is a graduate of The University of Melbourne’s Juris Doctor, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in German and History. She has previously worked with the Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria). Helen has worked with some of Australia’s fastest growing companies, and advises in a range of in-house services including: intellectual property and brand strategies, employee/contractor relations, commercial leasing issues, government tendering applications and e-commerce and fundraising platforms.

Uppma Virdi

Legal Counsel (Commercial Transactions, Employment, Business Law)

Uppma is an experienced commercial lawyer. She enjoys advising on commercial, corporate, employment, intellectual property and technology laws. She completed a Bachelors of Law and Commerce majoring in Finance at Deakin University and was admitted as a lawyer in 2014. Uppma joined Clearpoint in early 2015 and has worked with clients in a diverse range of industries including digital, marketing, co-working, media and entertainment, beverage and social enterprise. She also had the opportunity to undertake a secondment in Toyota’s legal team. Alongside her legal career, Uppma is the owner of Chai Walli. Her business specialises in the education, wholesale and retail of high grade organic Indian teas. She was recently awarded the Business Woman of the Year at the Indian Australian Business Community Awards. Uppma actively gives back to the community as a mentor for the Law Institute of Victoria and is a public speaker at Mumtaza; a speaking bureau for women of diversity.
